Bond It Bitubond 200 Tanking Membrane is formulated for application as a self-bonding damp-proof membrane, suitable for both vertical and horizontal use in tanking ground structures, parking and plaza decks, subways, and retaining walls.
APPLICATIONS
Remove the protective release sheet and affix the membrane, with the coated side facing down, onto the prepared surface. Apply firm pressure from the center towards the edges to eliminate air pockets. Ensure proper sealing by overlapping the membrane, with a minimum overlap of 75mm at the edges and 100mm at roll ends. Roll the overlap firmly using a handheld pressure roller. Roll the free edge onto a primed substrate strip for a secure seal.
Cover BITUBOND 200 within 2-3 days of application, preventing any part of the membrane from being permanently exposed. Immediately support vertical work after application. Before final covering, inspect the membrane for tears, holes, or wrinkled seams, and use BITUBOND 200 patches for repairs.
When used as a horizontal damp-proofing membrane, extend it up the walls and connect it to the damp-proof course. Double-cover internal and external corners and construction joints in slabs by applying a strip of membrane (minimum 300mm wide) centered along the joint before applying the main membrane. Internal angles require a 30-50mm mortar fillet cured before applying reinforcing strips. Prime areas around pipes and drains to a width of 300mm before covering with a double layer of BITUBOND 200, ensuring well-bonded exposed edges before applying a 50mm thick floor screed over the membrane.
Tanked surfaces should have appropriate waterstops cast into the reinforced concrete, preferably applied externally (membrane on the wet side of the structure).
LIMITATIONS
Do not apply BITUBOND 200 TANKING MEMBRANE when the substrate’s surface temperature falls below 5°C. When applying a brick skin to the face of the vertical BITUBOND 200, take care to avoid damaging the membrane and leave a 12mm gap, filled with sand/cement mortar as work progresses. Lay only enough BITUBOND 200 that can be protected as work proceeds. When leaving areas exposed for an extended period, ensure all edges are secured in place with battens.
