Cromar AlphaChem Lead Seal is an ideal solution for sealing various structures, including rooflights, conservatories, soffits, glasshouses, industrial roofing systems, and lead flashing. It serves as a versatile alternative to traditional lead flashing mortaring. With outstanding UV, heat, and ozone resistance, this sealant forms a durable, resilient rubber upon setting. It boasts excellent adhesion to a wide range of materials, including glass, slate, metals, concrete, brick, GRP, sealed timber, plastics, acrylics, PVCu, and painted surfaces.
APPLICATION
- Ensure surface cleanliness: Clean, sound, dry surfaces free from dust, grease, or other contaminants are essential for proper adhesion.
- Fill gaps or voids: Utilize Alpha Chem Expanding Foam or appropriate backing tape/rod to fill any gaps or voids effectively.
- Nozzle preparation: Cut the nozzle thread to the desired size for application.
- Sealant application: Use a sealant gun to apply the sealant, then tool it down with a spatula dampened with soapy water within 5 minutes of application.
- Bonding procedure: For bonding, press the two surfaces together before skinning occurs; note that skinning time may reduce on very hot roofs.
- Tool cleaning: Clean tools with Graffers Wipes; mechanically remove cured sealant if necessary.
- Packaging disposal: Dispose of all packaging responsibly; it is the user’s responsibility to ensure correct disposal.
LIMITATIONS
- Incompatible substrates: Avoid using on PE, PP, PC, PMMA, PTFE, and soft plastics, as well as neoprene and bituminous substrates.
- Unsuitable for natural stone: Not recommended for use on natural stone surfaces.
- Avoid in aquarium applications: Do not use in aquarium construction due to unsuitability.
