Bond It Rubber Bitumen Emulsion is a high-quality, water-based emulsion designed for a wide range of waterproofing applications. This versatile product combines the excellent waterproofing properties of bitumen with the flexibility and ease of use of a water-based emulsion. It forms a durable and elastic membrane that provides long-lasting protection against water ingress, making it ideal for various construction and maintenance projects.

Key Points:

1. Excellent Waterproofing: Bond It Rubber Bitumen Emulsion offers exceptional waterproofing capabilities, ensuring reliable protection against water penetration. The bitumen content forms a resilient barrier that effectively seals surfaces, preventing moisture from seeping through. This makes it suitable for use in applications such as roofs, basements, foundations, and other areas prone to water exposure.

2. Flexible and Elastic: The rubber component in the emulsion provides flexibility and elasticity to the applied membrane. This allows it to accommodate minor substrate movements and thermal expansions, reducing the risk of cracking or splitting. The flexibility of the emulsion ensures long-term performance and helps maintain the integrity of the waterproofing system.

3. Easy Application: Bond It Rubber Bitumen Emulsion is designed for easy application, whether by brush, roller, or spray. Its water-based formulation allows for simple and convenient cleanup with water, making the application process hassle-free. The emulsion can be applied to various surfaces, including concrete, asphalt, metal, and wood, providing versatility in different waterproofing projects.

4. Durable and Long-Lasting: With its robust formulation, Bond It Rubber Bitumen Emulsion delivers durability and long-lasting performance. The applied membrane forms a protective layer that can withstand weathering, UV exposure, and other environmental factors. This ensures that the waterproofing system maintains its effectiveness over time, reducing the need for frequent maintenance or repairs.

Choose Bond It Rubber Bitumen Emulsion for excellent waterproofing, flexibility, easy application, and long-lasting durability. Whether it’s a roof, basement, or other waterproofing project, this versatile emulsion provides reliable protection against water ingress, ensuring a dry and secure environment.

Note: Follow the instructions provided on the packaging for proper application and safety guidelines. It is recommended to use personal protective equipment (PPE) during application and ensure adequate ventilation in the work area.

Bond It Rubber Bitumen Emulsion offers a remarkably efficient cold-applied solution, serving as a damp-proof membrane within sandwich constructions. Additionally, it proves effective as a waterproofer for floors, walls, and various above-ground structures. Moreover, when applied to green concrete, it functions as a curing membrane.

APPLICATION

1. Damp-proofing Floors:

  • Prior to application, ensure thorough mixing.
  • Using a brush, apply a minimum of 2 coats, each at 0.8 liters per m2, extending the treatment up the walls to connect with the existing wall damp-proof course (d.p.c.).
  • Allow the first coat to dry before applying the second coat perpendicular to the first.
  • Once dry, overlay the RUBBER BITUMEN EMULSION with a 50mm thick sand/cement or concrete screed.

2. Waterproofing Walls:

  • For rising damp issues, consider repairing or inserting a damp-proof course.
  • In cases of wall penetration-related dampness: a) Exterior walls: Level uneven surfaces, including brickwork, with cement mortar. Apply 3 coats of RUBBER BITUMEN EMULSION using a soft bristled brush, each at a rate of 0.5 liters per m2. Allow each coat to dry before applying the next. Finish by allowing the final coat to become tacky and then blind it with clean, sharp sand. b) Interior walls (moderately damp): Remove wallpaper, loose emulsion, or gloss paint. Repair any damaged or perished plaster. Dampen the prepared surface with clean water and apply 3 coats of RUBBER BITUMEN EMULSION with a soft bristled brush, each at a rate of 0.5 liters per m2. Allow each coat to dry before applying the next. Leave a horizontal strip about 300mm deep uncoated at the top to facilitate moisture escape by evaporation. c) Interior walls (very damp): Ideally, address very damp walls externally. If not possible, hack away old plaster to expose brickwork, repair joints or brickwork with cement mortar, and apply 3 coats of RUBBER BITUMEN EMULSION at the rate of 0.5 liters per m2. Ensure complete drying between coats. Once the final coat is thoroughly dry, replaster the wall. Note that severe conditions may require external treatments for a comprehensive solution.

Decorating Guidelines:

  • Gloss Paints:
    • Refrain from using gloss paints and other oil or alkyd-based materials on surfaces treated with RUBBER BITUMEN EMULSION.
  • Emulsion Paints:
    • If RUBBER BITUMEN EMULSION is applied over plaster, it is advisable to hang lining paper using cellulose paste. This ensures a suitable surface for emulsion paints.
  • Wallpaper:
    • Prior to paper hanging, cover the surface with lining paper fixed with cellulose paste. Avoid hanging vinyl-coated papers or paperbacked vinyls over RUBBER BITUMEN EMULSION.

Waterproofing Structures:

  • RUBBER BITUMEN EMULSION serves as a waterproof membrane on various structures such as bridge abutments, retaining walls, culverts, concrete, or brick foundations.
  • Acts as a curing membrane for green concrete.
  • Ensure the surface is sound, free from dust, dirt, and grease.
  • Apply two coats of RUBBER BITUMEN EMULSION at a rate of 0.5 liters per m2 approximately.

Fixing Wood Blocks and Wood Mosaic Flooring:

  • For wood blocks of 12mm thickness and above, dip the bottom face of each block into the material and place it immediately.
  • Coverage is approximately 1.1 liters per m2.
  • Emphasize the importance of not compromising on quality.

Description:

  • RUBBER BITUMEN EMULSION is a dark brown rubber bitumen emulsion that dries to form a black, flexible, odor, and taint-free coating.

Rubber Latex Modified Waterproofing Solution for Wall and Floors:

  • Part of the BITUBOND BITUMEN SOLUTIONS & COMPOUNDS RANGE.
  • Contains relevant contact information and certifications.

Fixing Wood Mosaic Panels:

  • Spread RUBBER BITUMEN EMULSION on the surface at 0.8 liters per m2 for wood mosaic panels.
  • Allow a minimum of 24 hours before commencing sanding operations.
  • Switch off underfloor heating for at least 48 hours before and after laying.

Keying Treatment:

  • Apply 2 coats of emulsion for a “keyed” surface on glazed tiles, gloss-painted walls, and bricks.
  • Allow the first coat to dry and blind the second coat with clean, sharp sand.
  • Wait at least 48 hours before plastering or rendering (at least 6mm thickness).

Fixing Insulation Board, Expanded Polystyrene, and Cork Slabs:

  • Ensure surfaces are level, clean, and free from dust.
  • Apply a coat of RUBBER BITUMEN EMULSION to the porous base and place the insulation material while the product is still wet.
  • If needed, support boards until the emulsion sets.
  • Coverage is approximately 0.4-0.6 liters per m2.
