Bond It Bitumen Primer is suitable for priming various surfaces, including concrete roofs and floors, cementitious screeds/renders, bitumen felt, mastic asphalt, as well as weathered corrugated iron and steel. It is the recommended primer when working with the BITUBOND range, which includes bituminous roof coatings, flashing tapes, or mastics.
PREPARATION
Ensure all surfaces are structurally sound, clean, and dry, free from contaminants like grease, rust, and dirt. If there’s any organic growth, such as moss or lichen, utilize a fungicidal wash like MOULD STOP. For bare metal, apply a rust-inhibiting product like red oxide or zinc phosphate, allowing it to harden.
APPLICATION
Apply using a brush or roller. When using a brush, scrub the primer onto the surface, ensuring a thin coat without pooling. Extend the priming at least 75mm beyond the waterproofing area. Allow 2-3 hours for drying before proceeding with additional work. For fiber cement or dry rag-based bituminous felts, apply generously to saturate the surface.
