Bond It PVA Adhesive & Sealer
is compatible with plaster, cement, timber, gypsum wall boards, and paper. Its adhesive properties include fast drying. Additionally, it serves as a easily dilutable primer for sealing applications or as an additive to cement and plaster, enhancing adhesion and curing.
It is suitable for:
- Primer for plaster, porous surfaces, and sealing.
- Key coat for rendering.
- Admixture for cement and plaster.
- Dust sealer.
- General-purpose adhesive for bonding common construction materials, requiring at least one porous surface.
APPLICATION
Used as a primer, PVA BOND ADHESIVE & SEALER is suitable for sand/cement screeds, renderings, bonding new plaster to old plaster, and on porous surfaces such as brick, stone, floor tiles, and new plasterboard. To prepare as a primer, dilute 1 part PVA with 4 parts water, mix thoroughly, and apply with a brush, ensuring penetration into crevices. Allow the coat to dry before proceeding.
For cement applications, dilute 1 part PVA to 1 part gauging water, and for plaster, dilute 1 part PVA to 5 parts gauging water. The same diluted mixture can be used for dustproofing as for priming.
As a key coat and bonding aid, use undiluted PVA BOND after priming absorbent surfaces. Apply the coating while it is almost dry but still tacky, particularly for new plaster, concrete repairs, cement screeds, and renders.
For ceramic tiles and painted surfaces, apply undiluted PVA BOND as a key coat. Ensure that surfaces can withstand new plaster loading before application.
For lightweight plasters over painted ceramic tiles and heavy-duty cement rendering, create a slurry with 1 part PVA and 1 part water. Apply this mixture to a blend of 1 part Portland cement to 2 parts clean sharp sand, using a notched trowel. Allow it to dry for at least 24 hours before applying a top coat.
As a key coat for porous and rough surfaces, bonding paving, terrazzo, quarry, slate, and floor tiles, prime the floor and tile backs, then mix 3 parts PVA with 1 part water. Coat the floor and tile backs while still tacky, apply a sand and cement slurry to the floor, and embed the tiles. The bedding should be at least 3mm.
Used as an adhesive, apply PVA BOND to one side and bring the components together within 3-5 minutes, applying constant moderate pressure with clamps or weights.
LIMITATIONS
Avoid using in locations prone to permanent dampness. Refrain from applying on newly cured cement or surfaces with temperatures below 5°C.
