Bond It Flash Mate extends to sealing or bonding dissimilar materials, effectively thwarting weather ingression. This versatile product can seamlessly bond glass and glazing plastics, along with small sections of roofing materials during repairs. Its application is particularly well-suited for sealing rooflights, conservatories, soffits, glasshouses, industrial roofing systems, lead flashing, and preventing tile lifting and wind-induced noise.
FLASH-MATE demonstrates compatibility with lead, galvanized steel, and all metals, exhibiting exceptional resistance to UV rays, heat, and ozone. The cured result is a resilient rubber with robust properties.
This sealant finds optimal use on various surfaces, including glass, slate, all metals (including lead and galvanized steel), concrete, brick, GRP, sealed timber, plastics (including polycarbonate), acrylics, PVCu, and all painted surfaces.
APPLICATION
Apply the product using a standard sealant gun, ensuring that the nozzle is cut at a 45° angle and that the opening is slightly larger than the joint to be sealed. For optimal tooling results, allow a minute or two after application before smoothing. To enhance joint performance and reduce sealant consumption, insert polyethylene foam backing rod into construction joints before sealing. When bonding, bring the two surfaces together before the skinning process begins. Note that on very hot roofs, skinning time will be significantly shorter.
Once the silicone has been applied and tooled, exposure to rain will not adversely affect the sealant. Tools can be cleaned using WHITE SPIRIT or Bond It MULTI-WIPES before the curing process begins.
LIMITATIONS
Prioritize priming porous surfaces before application. Avoid using the product on surfaces where water can permeate through porous materials to the bond interface without addressing underlying issues through remedial work. It is not recommended for use on natural stone.
