Bond It SBR Admixture is ideal for enhancing the resistance to abrasion and chemicals for mortar, render, or floor screed is crucial. This involves offering protection in scenarios of sustained or intermittent water exposure, making it suitable for both internal and external applications. Key coating is particularly beneficial for substrates with low porosity. Additionally, it serves as an effective solution for repairing and patching concrete and cement screeds, enhancing adhesion and flexibility in screeds.
APPLICATION
Ensure all surfaces are devoid of laitance, oil, grease, and standing water. If surfaces are unsound, scabble them down to a stable base material. Prior to use, stir the mixture.
For the key coat, combine 1 part Bond It SBR with 2 parts cement by volume, adjusting to a brushable consistency with water. Mix only what can be used within an hour. Brush the mixture thoroughly onto a clean, dust-free substrate. While still wet, overcoat with the floor or render mix.
For damp-proofing, follow the same formulation as the key coat. Apply the first coat with vigorous brush strokes, allow it to touch dry, then apply a second coat at a 90° angle to the first. Allow 48 hours to dry, then apply the third coat at a 90° angle to the second coat. While still wet, apply the render.
In renderings/mortars, start by preparing the substrate with the key coat for optimal results. Mix sand/cement mortar/render and add 5-7.5 liters of Bond It SBR per 25 kg of cement, adjusting the gauging water accordingly. Apply at least 6mm thick, and two coats are recommended.
For granolithic floorings, also begin with the key coat for best results. Mix cement:sand:3mm granite flooring chips in a ratio of 1:1½:1½. Use 5L of Bond It SBR for each 25 kg of cement for floors up to 25mm thick. For thicker floors, use 2.5 liters of Bond It SBR and adjust water accordingly for a semi-dry mix.
When patching concrete, employ the key coat and a 3:1 render mix, feathering lightly.
LIMITATIONS
Prevent freezing by taking appropriate protective measures. Prior to use with cements other than OPC, contact the cement supplier for guidance. Avoid combining chloride-based frost proofers with Bond It SBR. Exercise caution not to overmix mortar/render. Refrain from application when air or surface temperatures fall below +3°C.
