Bond It B2 PU Foam is effective with a variety of standard construction materials, encompassing wood, concrete, stone, plaster, metal, PVC, and polystyrene. Nevertheless, it exhibits non-adhesive properties when applied to surfaces like polyethylene, Teflon, silicone, as well as substances such as oil and grease.
Following the curing process, the foam maintains its original volume, mitigating the potential for joint deformation and separation from the surface, ensuring a durable and stable outcome.
Areas of Application:
– installation of window, door frames and entrance door linings.
– insulation of penetrations.
– sealing and connection of joints.
– sealing of thermal and acoustic insulation boards.
– reducing the impact of thermal bridges.
APPLICATION
Strict adherence to the can’s instructions is essential. Ensure the use of gloves and eye protection, and avoid direct skin contact.
For handheld application, hold the foam can in an upright position. Attach the applicator (straw) to the foam can valve and shake the can vigorously at least 20 times. When applying, invert the can and press the applicator trigger, adjusting the foam output with the trigger as needed.
For Gun Grade application, keep the foam can upright. Turn the gun to the can by holding the gun handle with one hand and the can with the other. Ensure the gun is not aimed at others during this process. Do not attach the can to the gun with the valve upside down or by turning the gun onto the can. Take care not to overtighten the adaptor, and avoid activating the valve during this procedure. Invert the can and begin applying, adjusting the foam output with the gun trigger.
The freshly dispensed foam will expand by 2-2½ times, so exercise caution to avoid overfilling joints. Promptly clean any fresh foam spills within the tack-free time using Bond It FOAM CLEANER. Mechanically remove cured foam.
Important Note: Adequate moisture is required for even and rapid foam curing. Improper moistening or overfilling joints and cavities may result in undesired post-expansion of the foam. Accurate control of foam extrusion is achieved by varying the pressure, with the valve pointed downward during extrusion. Activate the valve lever with care. Once a can is opened, it should be used within four weeks.
LIMITATIONS
Cured foam exhibits sensitivity to UV light and direct sunlight. Consequently, it is advisable to shield it with an appropriate opaque sealant, filler, paint, or a similar material. In the case of the Handheld version, it is essential to securely fasten lighter construction elements prior to applying the foam, given its significant post-expansion characteristics. Conversely, the Gun Grade variant experiences a more moderate post-expansion, resulting in a diminished risk of deformation in building elements.
