Cromar AlphaChem Spray Contact Adhesive serves a variety of purposes, including fixing polyethylene sheets for enclosures before asbestos removal, securing thermal insulation, and handling packaging tasks such as palletizing or sealing cases. Additionally, it excels in foam bonding, upholstery, carpet, and trim applications. Moreover, it provides a convenient alternative for temporary bonding, offering an effective solution in place of double-sided tapes.
APPLICATION
- Ensure that all surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, dry, and free from any dust, oil, grease, or other contaminants.
- Prior to use, shake the aerosol can well.
- Hold the aerosol approximately 6” – 8” away and at a 70° angle from the surface.
- Apply an even coat of adhesive to one or both surfaces, ensuring complete coverage of 80‐100%.
- On porous surfaces, it may be necessary to apply a second coat.
- For one‐way application, allow the adhesive to dry for 30 seconds until tacky, then press into position.
- For two‐way application, spray both surfaces and allow to dry for 2 – 5 minutes before bonding.
- After each use, to prevent the spray nozzle from blocking, invert the can and press the nozzle until the spray is clear of adhesive.
- Any excess adhesive can be removed using a suitable solvent cleaner, such as Cromar White Spirit.
- Remember, it is the user’s responsibility to dispose of all packaging correctly.
LIMITATIONS
- Dries in two to five minutes under normal conditions; drying time may vary depending on temperature and humidity levels.
- High humidity and low temperatures can extend drying time and potentially lead to bloom formation, caused by moisture buildup on the glue line due to solvent evaporation lowering the air temperature above it.
- Always conduct a small sample test on the substrate to ensure product suitability, especially for materials like vinyls that contain high levels of plasticizers which can bleed and weaken the bond.
- Avoid using on flexible PVC or expanded polystyrene.
- Prior to use, it is important to read the label and safety data sheet for proper guidance.
- As the manufacturer cannot predict all potential uses, it is the user’s responsibility to determine suitability for their specific application. In case of uncertainty, seeking advice from the Technical Services department is recommended, with Safety Data available upon request.
