Cromar Allweather Roof Coat is a solvent-based, cold-applied bituminous compound fortified with organic fibers for added strength and stability. Here are four key points about this versatile product:

  1. Rapid Waterproofing: This general-purpose roof coating quickly resists water infiltration almost immediately upon application, making it particularly suitable for winter use.
  2. Versatile Application: Allweather Roofing Compound is designed to reseal, waterproof, and repair various roof coverings, including asphalt, built-up felt, concrete roof decks, asbestos-cement sheeting, metal sheeting (such as iron, steel, zinc, and lead), as well as slates and tiles.
  3. Reinforcement Options: It can be used with rot-proof hessian reinforcement scrim or bituminised glass fibre scrim to enhance durability and performance.
  4. Additional Functionality: This compound may also serve as a vapor barrier, providing added utility for various roofing projects. However, it’s not suitable for use in silage pits.

APPLICATION

  • Pre-application Preparation:
    • Prior to application, ensure thorough stirring of the product.
    • Assess the structural integrity of the roof; repairs should be conducted before coating application.
    • Replace or refix cracked, broken, slipped, or missing slate, tiles, sheets, or other forms of covering.
    • Prepare surfaces meticulously; they must be free from oil, dirt, dust, loose debris, algae, and fungus growth.
  • Specific Surface Preparation and Application Guidelines:
    • Asphalt Roofs:
      • Address blisters by heating them with a blow lamp until soft and then smoothing them out.
      • Crumbling or badly cracked asphalt should be replaced with a polyester-based underlay.
      • Apply Allweather Roofing Compound in two coats, allowing the first coat to dry before applying the second.
    • Built-up Felt Roofs:
      • Remove loose chippings and carry out preparatory work as detailed.
      • Minor marks and defects will be filled and covered effectively, while wider defects should be filled with Trowel Mastic before application.
      • Address blisters by cleaning them with a stiff bristled brush and coating them with Allweather Roofing Compound.
    • Reinforced Concrete and Lightweight Concrete:
      • Conduct preparatory work accordingly, ensuring proper curing.
      • Apply Universal Primer for new decks and top with Allweather Roofing Compound and a glass membrane.
    • Asbestos-Cement Sheeting:
      • Ensure the asbestos cement is dry before application; apply Bitumen Primer followed by two coats of Allweather Roofing Compound.
    • Metal Surfaces:
      • Remove signs of corrosion using a wire bristled brush and apply a rust inhibitive treatment.
      • Apply Allweather Roofing Compound in two coats.
    • Slate and Tiles:
      • Examine for damaged or loose slates or tiles and re-fix firmly before applying Allweather Roofing Compound and a glass membrane.
  • Scrim Treatment:
    • Use Allweather Roofing Compound with a reinforcing membrane, preferably glass membrane, to bridge gaps, cracks, and fissures.
    • Apply a first coat, immediately followed by application of the glass membrane into the wet compound film, ensuring complete contact.
  • Final Surface:
    • Apply a third and final coat of Allweather Roofing Compound, preferably with a solar reflective finish, and blind with stone chippings or clean sharp sand.
    • Alternatively, apply Aluminium Paint for solar reflective coating after allowing the final Allweather coating to weather adequately.
  • Vapour Barrier:
    • Apply two coats of Allweather Roofing Compound to prevent condensation water vapor from damaging insulation.
    • Ensure application on the ‘warm’ side, avoiding pinholes and imperfections before applying insulation.
