APPLICATION
As a Primer: Recommended for use as a primer in various applications such as renderings, bonding new plaster to old plaster, and on porous surfaces like brick, stone, floor tiles, and new plasterboard. To prepare the primer, dilute 1 part CG PVA with 2 parts water, ensuring thorough mixing. Apply the mixture with a brush, working it into crevices and gaps. Allow the primer coat to dry before proceeding.
Key Coat & Bonding Aid: For key coating in applications like new plaster, concrete repairs, cement screeds, and renders, follow the primer steps and then brush apply a second undiluted coat of CG PVA. Apply the topping while CG PVA A is still tacky. As a key coat for ceramic tiles and painted surfaces, apply undiluted CG PVA, and trowel on plaster while it is still tacky. Alternatively, Bond It PREGRIT can be used, or a mix of 1 part CG PVA with 1 part water to slurry a blend of 1 part Portland cement to 2 parts clean sharp sand. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before applying a top coat of plaster or cement.
Key Coat for Porous and Rough Surfaces: For bonding paving, terrazzo, quarry, slate, and floor tiles, prime the floor and tile backs as specified under priming. Mix 4 parts CG PVA with 1 part water and coat the floor and tile backs. While still tacky, apply a sand and cement slurry to the floor and bed in the tiles, ensuring a minimum 3mm bedding.
As an Adhesive: Use CG PVA as an adhesive by applying to one side and bringing the surfaces together within 3-5 minutes. Apply constant moderate pressure using clamps or weights.
As an Admixture: CG PVA serves as an admixture to enhance workability and adhesion of plasters and cements.
Cement Admixture: Follow the primer steps, then mix 1 part CG PVA with 1 part gauging water and add to cement in place of the gauging water.
Plaster Admixture: Following the primer steps, mix 1 part CG PVA with 2.5 parts gauging water and add to plaster in place of the gauging water.
LIMITATIONS
Avoid application in areas prone to permanent dampness. Refrain from using on new cement that has not yet fully cured and on surfaces with temperatures below +5°C.
